Articles (Online and Print)
Highlights
- From 2009-2013, I earned my MFA at the University of Maryland. During that time, I was a Development Writer and wrote numerous articles for the University of Maryland, College of Education's Alumni Newsletter: Endeavors. I was commissioned to write thirteen in-depth profiles of faculty and staff, some of which I've included in this section.
- From 2008-2009, I worked as a neighborhood columnist for my local paper the Baltimore Messenger. During this time, I interviewed poets, Baltimore City Councilman Bill Henry, and Radnor-Winston newsmakers.
- In 2006 and 2007, I wrote a number of articles for Baltimore/Washington Smart CEO.
Fiction Writing
Highlights
- I've been fortunate enough to find a home for a number of my short stories. Two of these stories can be found online at the Writing Disorder and Connotation Press.
- I won the 39th annual New Millennium Writings Competition with my flash fiction, The Miracle is to Walk this Earth.
- I am currently working on a number of other projects including a novel, flash fiction and a collection of short stories.
- I received a 2014 Individual Artist Grant from the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) to pursue a flash fiction project, tentatively titled Chicago in Flash.
- I received my MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Maryland in 2012.
Newsletters & Publications
Highlights
- Over the course of my career, I've written and edited a number of newsletters and special events publications. I've included a sample of the newsletters and publications I was responsible for as Communications Manager at the Maryland Food Bank.
Annual Reports & Grant Writing
Highlights
- As the Maryland Food Bank Communications Manager, I oversaw and edited the Maryland Food Bank's 2006-2008 Annual Reports.
- I volunteered for a brief time with the nonprofit theater company 2nd Story, and I wrote a number of grants for them including grants requesting funding from the City of Chicago, The Arts Work Fund, and the Gaylord & Dorothy Donnelley Foundation. All of which were funded.
- I've received funding for my own art through grants as well.
